World Parkinson's Day is dedicated to raising awareness about Parkinson's disease and showing support for those affected by it. The theme of 2024 is to "make it blue" for Parkinson's Day, encouraging people to creatively use the colour blue to show solidarity.
World Parkinson's Day is observed on April 11th each year, marking the birthday of Dr. James Parkinson, the British physician who first described the symptoms of the disease in 1817.
What is Parkinson's Disease?

The key symptoms of Parkinson’s encompass:
- Shaking and tremors that can't be controlled

- Issues with balance and eventually standing up
- Stiffness in the limbs

How Can We Make it Blue?
There are many creative ways to make it blue for World Parkinson's Day. You could wear blue clothing, paint your nails blue, or even dye your hair blue! Decorate your home / workplace or use a blue theme on your social media to help raise awareness.
A lighthearted idea to share kindness to those affected could be to bake blue-themed treats such as cupcakes or cookies.
